The City of Prince George has many advantages.
It is a transportation hub: Noth South East and West railway connections; highways with the same impact. An international airport. Proximity to resource developments in the North Central part of the Province. A very experienced and entrepreneurial group of businesses. Educational institutions of unparalleled ability. A highly educated work force.
The City of Prince George has also suffered.
Our City has suffered because of a coalition of forces: countervail duties, tariffs and political ineptitude have harmed our once vibrant forest industry.
Our unemployment rate is historically high.
Our downtown area has been damaged by crime, violence and chaos on the streets, coupled with bail reforms and a lack of mental health measures that do not actually deal with the danger to property and people caused by prolific offenders and high levels of drug addiction and mental health among street people.
Senior levels of government, which have the jurisdiction to deal with health and crime issues have failed to deal with these issues.
Let’s start to make our future.
